Flickr and tags go together. Tags are important facet of this photo sharing web site. Flickr has features similar to online social networking sites.Tags have been a successful means by which groups have created galleries of images. Tags merge images and words. Sharing your digital photos online is a way to create collaborative communites in which numerous people can participate. Common interests bring people together online. In Flickr you can search through groups to meet people who have similar interests.

Tagging on Flickr can be sloppy though- misspellings, lack of, specificity and precision in word usage. Search for flower and you’ll get a million photos of different types of flower. Or type in “Paris” and you’ll see photos of people, places, and things called “Paris”. It’s frustrating. Check out the tagging on Pixamo - it is like Flickr but more advanced- it removes a lot of the ambiguity by predicting your tags as you begin entering the first letters. It does this based on the tags you’ve previously entered and the tags that people you know have entered.
